Sarah is currently only taking new telehealth clients.
Sarah earned a M.A. in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary and is now a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. She works with adults and couples who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transition, spiritual confusion, marital/relational difficulties, and the effects of past trauma. Sarah is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-backed approach to trauma resolution (find more info by clicking here).
Sarah’s approach to counseling is both relational and methodical. Because many mental health struggles are rooted in relational difficulties, she views the therapeutic relationship as the most powerful tool that counselors have for healing. In addition to the therapeutic relationship, Sarah uses more methodical tools such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems, mindfulness training, motivational interviewing, and EMDR to assist her clients.
Sarah’s own story has taken her from a cubicle, working as a design engineer in the oil field, to a classroom, working as a 7th grade teacher, to a seminary in St. Louis and back to Texas. She does photography on the side and takes care of her huge, sweet mess of a dog. Sarah believes life is both difficult and incredibly beautiful. Her role as a therapist is to give her clients the tools, the knowledge, the encouragement, and the challenge to enter into both the beauty and the heartache of their own stories.
