Madison strives to create a space where clients feel fully seen and deeply cared for, coming alongside clients to address the roots of problems. This includes clarifying needs and goals, cultivating understanding of patterns, and moving toward positive change. She works together with you to address problems holistically. Clients often describe her as safe, deeply present, and insightful.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Washington and Lee University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary. She has counseled clients since 2016 in a range of settings, and works primarily with individuals from about eight on up. Madison draws from a variety of techniques, depending on each client’s goals. She also works with parenting concerns and does premarital counseling. Clients often come to work on issues around grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, with special interest in all types of trauma including relational hurts, emotional abuse and spiritual wounds.
Many people specifically ask about EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, a research-based method to treat trauma and other negative life experiences. She is fully certified in EMDR, having found many clients highly benefited from using it. The heart of this technique is to identify negative beliefs about self that were developed in difficult events or relationships, and to bring healing of these pieces of our identity through new insights, resources, and perspectives.
Madison’s goal for you is to feel able to fully engage and be present in your life even, and especially, when difficult things happen. She views the therapeutic relationship as a powerful tool, and would be honored to hear your story and walk alongside you in this season, whatever it may entail.
For clients interested in a faith-based approach, she also enjoys employing a Christian worldview lens, having been trained in integrating this into counseling.
Madison is currently taking new clients. She sees individuals ages 9 and up via Zoom and in person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
