With 20 years of lay experience, Mat Yelvington has been counseling individuals and groups as a minister, coach, and teacher.
Starting his career as a youth pastor, he found himself spending a fair amount of time working with teens and their families going through various crises and life transitions. Most recently Mat worked as a teacher and a coach, mentoring and counseling many students through different struggles in their lives. In addition to teens he has counseled numerous parents of teens, helping them navigate the challenges of raising adolescents. Mat has also started a couple of businesses along the way and has an understanding of the various stresses that individuals deal with on a regular basis - from raising teenagers to the burdens of being a business owner.
Providing counseling services for adolescent males, parents of teenagers, adults and couples, Mat uses a strengths-based approach to counseling by helping clients see the positive in their lives. He wants to help clients thrive in their strengths, not define themselves by their weaknesses. He takes a holistic approach to counseling by addressing the mind, body and soul. Mat believes that when our mind, body and soul are in rhythm, we experience the best life has to offer; and he is Anthology’s Movement Therapy counselor.
