Sarah Burkhart, Licensed Professional Counselor
I earned my M.A. in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I work with teens and adults of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transition, spiritual confusion, marital/relational difficulties, and the effects of past trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-backed approach to trauma resolution (you can find more info at http://www.emdria.org).
“Everyone has a story,” as we all know from Kathie Lee Gifford, and I find it a great privilege to enter into my clients’ stories and walk with them for a period. My own story has taken me from a cubicle, working as a design engineer in the oil field, to a classroom, working as a 7th grade teacher, to a seminary in St. Louis and back to Houston. I believe life is both difficult and incredibly beautiful, but we are only able to truly experience the beauty by doing the hard work of entering into the heartache. My role as a therapist is to give my clients the tools, the knowledge, the encouragement, and the challenge to do just that.
