Alane Atchley, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and am working toward independent licensure and full Theraplay® Certification under the supervision of Mary Ring, MAMFC, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, Certified Theraplay® Supervisor and Trainer. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Community, Family and Addiction and Services and a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from Texas Tech University. I counsel from a family systems perspective, viewing every family member as a crucial part of the healing process.
I am specialized in helping children and families after complex, early, developmental or attachment trauma like abuse, neglect, or orphanage care. I integrate Theraplay® techniques with the work of Dr. Bruce Perry (Neurosequential Model of Therapuetics), Dr. Karyn Purvis (Trust Based Relational Interaction), Dr. Dan Seigal ( The Mindsight Institute) and Daniel Hughes (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) to create an all-encompassing way of viewing change in the brain and the whole family system. When working with children, I view the parents or guardians as the most crucial agent of change within the family. Parents/ guardians and I will work as a team to make change happen within the family system.
I am also trained in Child Centered Play Therapy and Sandtray Therapy. I utilize these modalities for children who are experiencing stressful life transitions such as starting school, a death of an extended family member, a move, an addition to the family, divorce, etc.
Though I specialize in working with children, I also see adult individuals and families with teens and adult children. I utilize Experiential Family Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy to help adults and families access their internal resources.
